Tubing Probes

With a distinctive design and exceptional mechanical characteristics, SG NDT tubing probes offer accuracy combined with a long product lifecycle using the latest materials.

An exclusive design and a robust configuration in stainless steel and high-end engineering thermoplastics envelop safely the coils and circuit. The Eddy current elements are protected by a high-end industrial ceramic component. It withstands abrasion and high temperatures up to 60°C (140°F) with a carefully selected semi-flexible nylon tubing.

Our probes are manufactured and tested to surpass industry standards, which guarantee the conformity and optimization of the probe’s durability and Eddy current data results.

Eddy Current Probes

Finned Tube

SG NDT has specifically designed probes to meet the requirements for finned tubes.

These probes offer a better alternative to the IRIS Technique. Based on an ultrasound technology, this array probe will become your best detection tool.

Eddy Current Array Probe

This multiplexed ECA probe is designed to inspect non-ferromagnetic tubing in condensers, feedwater heaters, and heat exchangers.

It can efficiently detect circumferential cracks at tube support plates and tube sheets — something conventional bobbin probes notoriously fail at.
This Array probe can also detect and size typical defects in any orientation such as wear, corrosion, and micropitting, as well as detect stress corrosion cracking (SCC). The probe’s multichannel design offers the same performance as a rotating probe, but at bobbin probe speeds, all in a single pass.

Motor Units

Our high-speed rotating motor units have consistent rotation rates and increased motor torque to spin probe heads and shafts through restrictive tube areas. The current design incorporates the use of numerous instruments and various probe types.

Motor units used with SG NDT S2G2 technology. This allows tuning parameters to automatically be set, avoiding potential damage to the instrumentation. Many different RPM options are available.

Remote field probes

The remote field probes include a 32-dB preamplifier. These probes, known as Boiler, feature improved wear resistance and thicker casing as well as improved differential response and SNR ratios. These probes are designed to detect irregularities such as pitting, corrosion, and erosion in ferromagnetic tubing. They are available in single exciter, dual pickups, and dual exciter designs.

 

The RFT probe holds a 19-Pin Amphenol Connector.
Moreover, you may prefer the flexible, BOILER type to the Rigid probe depending on the purpose.
Both types are available with a single driver or a double driver embedded.
A Boiler Articulate is also available upon request.

Advanced Bobbin Probes

Our bobbin probes set the standard for efficient and accurate inspections. We apply advanced materials, design and production so that you get clean Eddy current data that are consistent through the duration of the inspection, as well as for the life of the probe.

We offer probes designed for specific tubing types including thimble tubing, HVAC, restricted access or u-bends, and high permeability.  Our probes come in various diameters to cover all the potential tube sizes.

Near field probes

NFT (BOBBIN)

A great alternative to Magnetic Flux Leakage, the NFT BOBBIN probe uses induced coils to detect accurately small defects inside fin-fair cooler tubes, heat exchangers, axial cracking, wall loss, erosion and more.

Near Field Array drives coils to generate more accuracy during the inspection thanks to the array benefit, holding up to 32 coils.

Aluminum-finned Carbon Steel tubes are harder to inspect caused by the exterior fins on the tube. They often cause interference within the signals, which makes interpretations of the C-scans difficult and presents lesser quality results.

SG NDT’s NFA can detect defects inside fin-fair cooler tubes and heat exchangers which includes: erosion, wall loss, cracking and more.
